Review of Park Hotel, Weggis, Switzerland
UPDATE: out of business since September 2017
Picturesque lake-side location, beautiful rooms and gourmet food:
My husband and I spent a weekend at this gorgeous resort bordering the Lake of Lucerne. We reserved last-minute a double room with lake view. And we were astonished to receive a generously sized room with a spacious bathroom. Plus, it featured a stunning view of lake and mountains. Furthermore, we got it for a reasonable rate.
Our room was well-appointed in a style combining modern and ancient elements. It was not our first stay at his hotel as we already had been guests here on the occasion of a birthday invitation. Upon arrival, we experienced a hearty reception and were shown to our room. We were even treated to half a bottle of Champagne from the mini-bar, a nice touch.
For dinner, we had a reservation at their Restaurant Annex, awarded with 1 Michelin Star and 16 Gault Millau Points. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with paired wines. The service at the restaurant was impeccable. The same was true for all the staff we met at the hotel. Breakfast was also excellent. We could help ourrselves from a small but well-arranged buffet (eggs to order).
The hotel facilities are immaculate. There is a beautiful spa, an amazing and spacious pool. Plus, you find here a fabulous outdoor area by the lake, which is great for sunbathing. Upon checking out, the receptionist called for a management team member to say good bye to us, very nice.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Park Weggis and would recommend this resort without reservation. It is suitable for a longer stay too. This is so not only because of its favorable seaside location but the rooms are beautiful too. Furthermore, it is ideal for a gourmet stay, and the staff is immaculate.
Date of stay: June 2012
