UPDATE: still owned & operated by the Schepps family, who founded it in 1985; restoration in 2020, which maintained its historic southwestern character; update of Joe’s Tequila Bar into a full restaurant around the same time

Quaint place, convenient location, fabulous breakfast:

We (my husband and my teenage son) spent two nights at the Inn on the Alameda. It definitely is is not your usual lodging with its thick adobe walls typical for the traditional southwestern Pueblo architecture. The room we chose was a One Bedroom King Suite, which was quietly located. And it featured no view whatsoever. But there are probably few rooms here with a view worth mentioning. So, it did not bother us. It was adequately sized for three persons and nicely furnished. However, it was rather dark but that was mainly due to the adobe building style, which we found quaint yet charming. The air conditioning was not the most efficient one but it was (for us) bearable.

The hotel’s location is convenient, near the Canyon Road and within easy reach of the main square. But it is not exactly a quiet spot as there are quite busy roads on two sides. For us that was no problem as our room – there are several buildings – did not face these roads.



The staff was eager to please, the breakfast was excellent (fine savory and sweet pastries). And the wine and cheese reception was a nice touch. We liked the uncomplicated atmosphere at this pleasant hotel and would recommend it for a stay in Santa Fe.
