UPDATE: owner change in 2019 from long-time owners Diane Wildfang & Kirk Komick to Rochester Hotel Property Co. LLC, followed by a comprehensive overhaul in 2022 (scale down from 33 rooms to 15 more luxury ones, new Peeples Bar)

Historic hotel in good location:

My husband, my teenage son and I chose this hotel for our one-night stay in Durango. And we were not disappointed. The Rochester is a place with quite a long history. This is still apparent, although the furnishings are contemporary.

We had a King Suite with a sleeper sofa for our son and considered it as adequate. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of Durango on a not too busy road. On our arrival, there was nobody to welcome us. We did not find any indication where to address when checking-in. Finally it came to my mind that the Leland House directly opposite was affiliated with the Rochester. So we went there for help which we found but we already were quite unnerved.

But that was the only negative point. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. The homemade cookies in the afternoon and the superb breakfast were much appreciated by us.
