Within cloud forest, quaint treehouse, great teatime:

My husband, our teenage son and I spent two nights at this magnificent property. The Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel is nestled outside of town within the cloud forest canopy.



Amongst the 4 treehouse chalets and three rooms in the main house we chose the Eden Treehouse Chalet. There are two levels. On the upper floor, there is a living room with kitchen facilities and a half bath. On the lower floor, you find a king-size bed and a fantasy bathroom. The latter features forest views and a private jacuzzi in some kind of a winter garden. A separate stone waterfall shower completes the offerings.

We were quite impressed by the well-appointed accommodation amidst the cloud forest. The negative points were only the high humidity (there is a dehumidifier in the bedroom) and the beds. The pull-out bed in the living room was much too soft (our son slept the second night on the sofa). The adults’ bed was comfortable, but the mattress had a synthetic cover which did not allow a good sleep quality. Anyway, these were the only drawbacks I can think of here.



There are well-kept gardens and a trail around the vast property. When making a tour here, the owner’s dogs might accompany you. In the main house there is a guest lounge with large windows where you have sweeping views of the Gulf of Nicoya. Here a delicious teatime or better a happy hour took place. Fantastic sangria or other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as delicious savoury and sweet snacks were available, a nice touch. Also the breakfast was served there. Jenn, the host (and owner), gave her best to meet their guests’ needs, be it reservations for restaurants or arrangements for tours in the Monteverde area.

By the way, the guided walk with Koki in the Curi-Cancha reserve is a must as this very knowledgeable guide is able to communicate with birds, amazing! Monteverde area does not seem to have many luxury hotels. Therefore, we were happy to have found the comfortable Hidden Canopy Treehouse Hotel.
