Review of Park Hotel, Weggis, Switzerland
UPDATE: out of business
Picturesque lake-side location, beautiful rooms and gourmet food:
My husband and I spent a weekend at this gorgeous resort bordering the Lake of Lucerne. We reserved last-minute a double room with lake view and were astonished to receive a generously sized room with a spacious bathroom and a tremendous view to the lake and the mountains, and this to a reasonable rate.
Our room was well-appointed in a style combining modern and ancient elements. It wasn’t our first visit to this hotel as we already had stayed there as guests of a birthday invitation. Upon arrival, we experienced a hearty reception and were shown around our room; we were even invited to half a bottle of Champagne from the mini-bar, a nice touch.
We had reserved a table at the Annex restaurant, awarded with 1 Michelin Star and 16 Gault Millau Points and enjoyed a delicious dinner with paired wines. The service at the restaurant was impeccable as this was also the case with any other staff we met at the hotel. Breakfast was also excellent, there was a small but well-arranged buffet and eggs could be ordered.
The hotel facilities are immaculate. There is a beautiful spa, a marvelous well-sized pool and a very nice lawn for sunbathing by the lake. When checking out, the receptionist called for a member of the management who said good bye to us, very nice.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Park Weggis and would recommend this resort without reservation, also for a longer stay as it is not only wonderfully located but also offers beautiful rooms, gourmet food and friendly employees.
Date of stay: June 2012
